Hey, Sofia … I really think that’s too many balls.

So, according to, uh, somebody somewhere with absolutely no official power, Sunday is National Meatball Day. Seems kinda rough on anyone who gave up red meat for Lent, but hey, I didn’t make it up.

If you’re down to chomp balls, here are a few suggestions.

Buca di Beppo “Made from the highest-quality ingredients and slow-cooked in fresh marinara sauce, Buca di Beppo is best known for their half-pound, mouth-watering meatballs, which are made fresh daily. Sofia Vergara has joined forces with Buca di Beppo for ‘Meatballs 4 Niños,’ a campaign that aims to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.” (Florida Mall, 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, and 1351 S. Orlando Ave., Maitland)

Italio Modern Italian Kitchen “If you’re looking for fast-casual, no-fuss Italian food, look no further than Italio. Their meatballs are made with a combination of ground beef and pork, and blended to perfection with a blend of Italian seasonings.” (276 S. Orlando Ave., Winter Park)

Prato “Located on Park Avenue, the modern Italian restaurant has meatballs as a staple on their rotating menu. Their meatballs are made from a highly guarded recipe, though we do know they include garlic, onions, bread crumbs, egg and a mixture of veal, beef and pork, which are ground in-house.” (124 N. Park Ave., Winter Park)

Taverna Opa Orlando “If you’re in the mood for something different, indulge in keftedes, traditional beef Greek meatballs, seasoned with herbs and imported olive oil. This appetizer is best paired with Opa’s house made tzatziki sauce.” (Pointe Orlando, 9101 International Drive)

IKEA Personal meatball preference: with gravy, new potatoes, and lingonberry preserves, not red sauce and spaghetti. If you’re with me on that, good news — IKEA is running an eat-for-free special on March 9.  Var så god. (4092 Eastgate Drive)
