Apopka dentist offers hamburgers, free dental work

It’s that time of year again: this Friday, Feb. 7 Apopka dentist John Gammichia is hosting his second annual “Free Tooth Pull & Cavity Fill Jammy Jam” (it is not actually called that) between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The special, provided for anyone who lacks health insurance, is first come/first served, so don’t feel silly if thoughts of camping out overnight cross your mind.

Will Gammichia be able to top last year’s record of 250 teeth pulled and 100-plus cavities filled between 120 patients? Well, it would probably be best if John and his 40 volunteers don’t rush things, lest someone’s jaw fall off. One thing’s for sure: the wait up line will be jammin’ thanks to the DJ the dentist has hired to entertain the
desperate tooth-achers.

The Men’s Club of Maitland will also be serving hot dogs and hamburgers to Gammichia’s potential patients, which seems counterproductive, but on the other hand, I never went to dental school. Maybe hamburger grease serves as some kind of tooth-pulling lubricant.
