Yo, Florida: Big Guava music festival booked the Boss to pre-party

February 10, 2014

It’s been a while since a major music festival in Florida piqued my personal interest. But Big Guava brings Outkast to play along Pitchfork-approved acts like Vampire Weekend, Girl Talk, Earl Sweatshirt, Chance the Rapper and even the newest new blog darlings like Haim, mixed in with some old, not-typically-blog-bait bands like Cake and Violent Femmes, and the Big Guava Festival lineup seems to be added to regularly.

It’s at the Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater and the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, May 2-4, 2014. So on top of all that music, you can ride the ferris wheel and gorge on fried offerings.

The schedule hasn’t been posted yet, but I’m assuming it will be by the time single-day tickets ($65) become available at 11 a.m. Feb. 15. You can buy 3-day passes now, though, for $165 (which includes festival admission, parking and unlimited rides) or $499 (which includes admission, parking, unlimited rides, premium reserved seating, preferred viewing on all stages, 2 VIP lounges and other perks listed here).

But what’s got me so worked up is that in addition to all this, Big Guava is looking for folks to pre-party with, and they landed Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to perform a pre-festival kickoff party on Thursday, May 1 at the Mid-Florida Credit Union Amphitheater. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Feb. 15, and they will be $41-$124.
