Neat! Concert tickets feature a pop-up band, shots from Orlando
Two very different upcoming shows (coincidentally at two of Orlando’s most offbeat music venues) are seeking to join the awesome commemorative concert tickets club (alongside John Vanderslice at the Acre and Sun Araw at Will’s Pub). Let’s start things off in 3-D – the Civic Minded 5 are bringing back mega-important free jazz saxophonist Peter Brotzmann (who at one point got noisy with ’80s band Last Exit), and if you buy the physical ticket, this is what you get:
If you’re unfamiliar with Brotzmann (who is legitimately legendary, and also translates as a pretty good hot sauce), check out this old clip from 1974:
Last time Brotzmann was in town, he performed with Joe McPhee at Timucua Arts, which is where his upcoming show will also be hosted this time, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1 (more info here). Check out video from last year’s show below:
Next, Emperor X returns to Florida (he’s originally from Jax but now based in L.A.) for a visit to the Space at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22. (RSVP) To celebrate that his album is just on the cusp of its release, they’ve created unique tickets with different photos offering views of Orlando. Ark, who joins the bill along with locals Zap Dragon and the Attack, posted a first look on his Instagram, and if you’re intrigued, you can pick one up at Park Ave CDs.
