UPDATE: Half off all vinyl at the downtown library record sale – starts Friday!

January 22, 2014

UPDATE: Apparently, the public record sale doesn’t start until Friday, Jan. 24, with a members-only preview discount beginning tonight at 4 p.m. (Thursday). I regret printing the misinformation, but the original tweet confused me!

If you’re looking to expand your record collection or have a fascination for crate digging, you’re going to want to make time to visit the downtown library (101 E. Central Blvd.) between Thursday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 26, because according to their Twitter, they’re having a massive vinyl sale, with a giant collection available now for 50 percent off.

Considering how pretty much every used vinyl vendor in town is trending the opposite way and jacking up prices (c’mon, Antiques Mall record guy, you want $7 per record now? Hide yo wives, whatever), this could be a one-stop shop for classic records you’ve been meaning to acquire. Or, from the front-facing records in the photo: A nostalgic dive through Disney Mousercise?

Sifting through records takes patience, so make sure you are well-nourished, hydrated and in the mood to idle through the stacks, because I can say from personal experience, when you find a record you’ve been looking for and it’s cheap, it’s like sitting on top of the world.

Friggin hipsters will be all over this looking to score for their recently purchased turntables now that vinyl is “in”.

Don’t insult vinyl by putting it in the same sentence as “Hipsters…” Truthfully,… you are one of the “New Hipsters” by being overly “Anti-Hipster” because being “Anti-Hipster” is now “in.” Vinyl Rocks.
