BAND OF THE WEEK: The Roadkill Ghost Choir
Every week at Orlando Music News, the site highlights a local band. A good local band. This week, the Roadkill Ghost Choir.
The Roadkill Ghost Choir play Wednesday, July 27th at Will’s Pub with Sweet Chariots, the Groves, and Zap Dragon & the Attack.
(Q&A answered by Andrew Shepard)
We started playing music together around early January of this year. I was booked on a show later that month and I didn’t want to play it by myself. Everything came together real quick and easy.

1) What has been your most memorable show so far?
The Peter Baldwin farewell show for sure. He put on one hell of a show that night. It was an honor to be a part of it.
2) Which local band is your favorite one to play a show with?
The first show we played in Orlando was at Will’s Pub opening for David Dondero and Franz Nicolay. Goodrich & The Die Tryin’s played after us and put on, in my opinion, the best show of the night. We’ll be playing with them again on August 26th at Will’s Pub.
3) What description gets used for your band that you would most like to correct people on? Why?
People get our name wrong every once in a while. It’s now just “Roadkill Ghost Choir”. We kind of created the confusion because we had a different name on each flier in the beginning. Now, we are settled on Roadkill Ghost Choir and everyone in the band is bursting with joy.
4) What’s your favorite thing about being an Orlando band? What’s your least favorite?
We’re pretty new to the Orlando music scene so we are learning the positives and negatives as we go. So far, our favorite thing has been playing with a lot of great local bands. Really exciting music being made in Orlando. People need to recognize! Least favorite thing would have to be the parking and the night club crowd. They make me nervous. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the teleporter.
5) Any big news to share?
We’ll be putting out our first album, hopefully, around October. We’ve been recording at North Avenue Studios with David Plakon producing it. We’re all really excited about how the songs have evolved in the studio so far. We’ll also be releasing a few songs that won’t make the record pretty soon so keep an eye or two out.
