George Zimmerman’s new hobby: making bad art

December 17, 2013

We saw this on eBay yesterday, but did not believe it could possibly be real. But today, Mediaite and CNN are both saying that this piece of stock art with words Photoshopped on it is indeed a bad piece of artwork by George Zimmerman.

As Mediaite points out, the piece is basically an image from Shutterstock that has been colored blue with what looks like the watercolor filter and had the phrase “God one nation with liberty and justice for all” typed on it. Oh, and his signature, too.

Here is the image from Shutterstock that Mediaite says the original artwork is based on:

The piece is currently going for $110,100 on eBay. So far, 108 people have bid on the piece.

Here is a sampling of the “inquiries” made by people on the auction page:

A: Thanks for your question, Yes, this account and my twitter @therealGeorgeZ belong to me, George M. Zimmerman. I have received this question a lot so I posted a picture of me holding my painting with the hope that would… Continue reading

    Oh geez.

So he got away with manslaughter, and still doesn’t have a job.
Maybe art fraud will pay his bail when he gets arrested again.

Whoever buys this piece of crap “Hand painted oil painting” by GZ will be shocked when they open it and it’s basically just a poster on canvas. Gives real painters a bad name.

I wrote to questions to the seller (Zimmerman) about the painting and he never answered. I suspect those comments were made by his friends. I asked if he had lessons or prior experience in art, nothing rude. If you look at the bids, the same person keeps bidding against himself driving the price up. Something is wrong with this whole thing and I suspect it is GZ eager for publicity and more donations. What a fraud.

This is the dumbest thing ever. Yes, it’s sick. And no it’s not art, no matter how you look at it. But why is his signature on the piece blurred out in your photo?
