Photos: Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express train on track at Universal Orlando

Diagon Alley, the new London-themed expansion of Universal Orlando’s uber-popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter, won’t open to the public until next spring at the earliest. But a major component of the secretive upcoming attraction literally dropped into place last night, in full view of guests. On Thursday 10/24/2013, Universal lifted the lifelike locomotive for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express train onto elevated tracks connecting Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Check out the following photos of the train in its new position (taken from guest-accessible areas along the exit path of Halloween Horror Nights’ haunted houses). Testing of the transportation system is expected to begin shortly, and we’ll bring you video when it does.

It looks really out of place and needs a substantial masonry stucture to create realism..
