Free shows this week!!! (Sept. 18-24)

September 17, 2013
By

Man, it sucks being broke. I know. But it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on EVERYTHING. This fall, in an effort to open eyes to cool music stuff happening in Orlando, I’ll be publishing weekly lists of all the free shows you can crash for no cover. It’s just too nice to stay indoors. So fly the coop, I promise, there’s little risk involved.

chicken9/18 Mike Dunn @ the Smiling Bison, 10 p.m. (He knows all your favorite songs)
9/18 Ten Pints of Truth featuring Eugene Snowden @ Lil Indies, 10 p.m. (Orlando’s soul treasure)
9/19 Buster Keaton and friends @ Tanquerays, 10:30 p.m. (funky, jazzy hip-hop lovers)
9/20 OneBeat @ Timucua White House, 7 p.m. (25 hand-picked musicians from all over the world, collaborating)
9/21 Eddie Money @ Orange County Courthouse, 4 p.m. (two tickets to paradise, please)
9/21 Morningbell @ College Park Yoga, 6 p.m. (one of my favorite records of the year, plus a vegan potluck catered by Woodlands?!)
9/21 Lauren Galant @ Lil Indies, 10 p.m. (bluesy, folky, heartfelty)
9/21 Random Encounter CD Release @ the Social, 8 p.m. (original songs inspired by video games)
9/21 Tideup @ the Falcon, 9 p.m. (to-die-for experimental pop)
9/22 Ancient Sun @ Tanquerays, 10:30 p.m. (funky killers)
9/23 Absinthe and Friends @ Lil Indies, 10 p.m. (them basslines!)
9/24 Last Shake a Tail Tuesdays DJ set, featuring music from past and current Florida-based bands, 9 p.m. (Evil geniuses)
9/24 Frankasaurus Fresh @ the Peacock Room, 10 p.m. (eclectic mix of house, dub, trap and pleasant surprises)
9/24 Thomas Wynn @ the Smiling Bison, 6:30 p.m. (sub Believers, add soul)

Possibly, the best news? These aren’t even all the free events, just the ones I’d most recommend showing up to. You can find more free events in our humongous calendar or check out this slideshow for our recommendations for the Top 10 Things to Do in Orlando This Week:
