Deadline for 2014 Florida Film Festival short and feature film submissions rapidly approaching

Just a heads up to all of you fledgling filmmakers out there that there is one month left for the early submission deadline for the 2014 Florida Film Festival’s short film competition. Early submissions must be submitted by October 18th to be considered, so get those projects edited and polished and maybe you could be off to the Oscars.

Here is one tip from a short film enthusiast: make sure you get your sound edit right (especially you Full Sail kids. There is no reason for you guys to mess the sound up). There is nothing worse than seeing a short that looks intriguing only to see that they filmmakers put zero effort into their sound edit. It’s very important.

If you miss the early deadline, you can still submit up until November 15th, but the entry fee will cost you more. Here are the full details from the FFF’s site (with information about how to submit).

Deadlines:

Shorts
Early Deadline – October 18, 2013
Late Deadline – November 15, 2013

Features
Early Deadline – November 8, 2013
Late Deadline – December 6, 2013

The Florida Film Festival is accredited as a qualifying festival for the Oscars® in the Live Action Short and Animated Short film categories. The winner of the Grand Jury Award in each of these categories will automatically qualify to enter the following year’s Academy Awards®.
