Orlando Magic Mid-Summer Special to air on FOX Sports Florida
Let’s be honest: Last season wasn’t the best for the City Beautiful’s hometown basketball team, the Orlando Magic. While the team finished the season with fewer wins than any other NBA team, they did place second as “Best Local Sports Team” in this year’s Best of Orlando. And head coach Jacque Vaughn nabbed the second place spot for “Best Local Sports Coach”.
Nevertheless, loyal fans are now hoping that after this season’s draft picks, the Magic will pick it up and take it all the way down the court. Luckily, fans have the chance to see where the team stands and check out the latest season insights with the Orlando Magic Mid-Summer Special, which will air at 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 4 on Fox Sports Florida.
The 30-minute episode, hosted by Paul Kennedy, re-lives some of the more memorable Magic moments as the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary. Fans also get to hear from their favorite Magic players, as well as a few of the newcomers, to learn what their plans were for improving skills and teamwork, which were both part of what they worked on throughout the summer.
Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan (who was also featured in our Best of Orlando 2013) will share his thoughts on the current state of the team, along with play-by-play announcer David Steele. We’re thinking fans might be most excited to see sideline reporter Dante Marchitelli sit down with Orlando’s second overall 2013 draft pick, Victor Oladipo, to get his initial thoughts on joining the Magic.
