“Escape From Tomorrow”, the unauthorized film shot at Disney World, is finally coming to theaters and VOD

The LA Times has an exclusive this afternoon that Escape from Tomorrow, the film secretly filmed inside of Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in California by director Randy Moore and his crew, will finally be coming to theaters and VOD on October 11th.

The black-and-white film is about a man who goes crazy while on a family vacation at the Disney theme parks. The Orlando shooting was done in the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and at a Disney Resort. The film caused a huge about of buzz at Sundance earlier this year when the story of the film’s production came out (though not necessarily for the quality of the film), and was even featured as an Orlando Weekly cover story in February.

Many speculated that the film would never see the light of day outside of bootlegs because the film makes no real attempt to hide any of Disney’s trademarked characters or designs. But after the disastrous year that Disney has had with public relations they would be better served by keeping their objections to themselves.

Check out our cover story by Peter Sciretta for more info on the production and our story “In the shadow of the Mouse,” which talked about whether this movie would ever see the light of day.
