I scream, you scream: Orlando among “America’s Best Cities for Ice Cream”

ice creamLooks like Travel + Leisure just released their list of “America’s Best Cities for Ice Cream”, and Orlando is sitting pretty at number 15 (out of 22 towns).

Orlando was awarded the spot mainly because of our kid-friendly appeal (thanks to the attractions). And the article points out a few local ice cream joints including Ivanhoe Village’s Twisted Bliss and Lu Lu’s Ice Cream Shop in Winter Park.

We recently featured Lu Lu’s in our Endless Summer issue last month, within our “Game of Cones” story. In the same article, you’ll find info on a handful of other local ice cream places, in case you’re in the mood for something sweet this summer.

After going to that website to read the article I thought I’d look around and see what else they say about Orlando. A few choice words came to mind that I won’t repeat here and I definitely wouldn’t recommend linking to their site just because they say we have ice cream. Orlando seems to be on several of their lists, but they can’t seem to help turning their nose up at us every chance they get. They’re only adding to the impression that every bit of food and culture we have only exists inside the theme parks. I know it’s a travel site so they really only look at things from the tourist viewpoint, but I can’t help but feel the need to suggest where they can go.
