Calling all pirates, wenches and parrotheads: Picture a one-night trip to the islands without the need for a passport. It’s what the folks at Wall Street Plaza call RumFest, and this year again you’ll sip on more than 25 varieties of the liquor native to the Caribbean – light, dark, spiced, aged and flavored – as they are sprinkled into punches, daiquiris, coladas and other rum-based concoctions. It’s three whole hours of unlimited sampling and live reggae-rock music to keep your buzz going. One lucky buccaneer will win a pair of JetBlue airline tickets to head to the rum motherland in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and tour the Don Q rum factory. Tickets are $20, but for $10 more you can enjoy a little VIP treatment on the Red Stripe Terrace, located in the upstairs Monkey Bar. There, you can hide out from the crowds or watch the shenanigans down below, all while enjoying unlimited bottles of Red Stripe Jamaican Lager, an assortment of snacks and a specialty rum punch. Hurry up and get your tickets before you have to ask: “But why is the rum gone?” – Kelly Chambers
