Twin Tigers offer goth-pop at the Peacock Room
Saturday, May 11 – Twin Tigers
with Tideup, Dark Sixties, Kerry Hayes
The Peacock Room
1321 N. Mills Ave.
Twin Tigers have gone on the road with Interpol, Minus the Bear, Les Savy Fav and a crop of other bands that cultivate admirably long-term fandom because of how dependably strong their albums are, release after release. While this goth-pop band is still too young to join that club, and their sophomore LP Death Wish was only recently released, they exhibit a similar durability for shaping nerve-testing songs propelled by the drum-pounding energy of Joy Division and the dripping lyrical emotionalism of the Cure. Alternating fast-paced standouts like the title track with shimmery pauses like “Wildest Dreams,” the album begs to be heard live, and lucky us, we get to experience that for free this week at the Peacock Room. With equally solid show support from locals the Dark Sixties and Tideup, the only gamble at stake at this killer Norse Korea event is the possibility of losing your mind over Twin Tigers’ sound. – Ashley Belanger
