Two-piece band El Ten Eleven offer groove-rock at the Social
Thursday, April 11 – El Ten Eleven
with Slow Magic, Nude Pop
54 N. Orange Ave.
As one of the highest functioning two-piece bands in the game, California’s El Ten Eleven have been digging their heels deep into Orlando’s guts with their body-moving groove-rock and dazzling live show. Their 2011 swing through town saw attendance blow up threefold compared to the last time they rocked us. And it’s no wonder. They pack all the technical sorcery that diehard fans of instrumental post-rock demand, yet manage to avoid every niche tendency of the genre. They’re not contrived, they’re not esoterically extreme and, most of all, they’re not sleepy. But this tour almost didn’t happen. Three days before kicking off, the majority of their gear was jacked outside their L.A. rehearsal space. Luckily, they refused to stop. So while you’re getting your mind blown by their famous performance, enjoy the added benefit of knowing you’re directly helping some first-rate showmen recover from a major setback. – Bao Le-Huu
