After gaining some attention as Le Blorr, the Florida psych-rock duo decided to refresh their sound and return now as SWIMM, with the new Feel EP out this week. The first single “Too Old” immediately introduces you to the album’s theme: that late-20s panic about the youthful, irresponsible tendencies you should have outgrown by now. Blending noisy guitar work with danceable melodies intended to make listeners feel as though they are floating, they create this sonic ether dually comprised of chaos and conformity. While MTV already nodded at “Too Old,” we think it’s the EP’s title track that achieves this effect best. Feel departs almost entirely from the at times too trendy tempos of Le Blorr’s Bim Bop EP, allowing the duo to become re-blorr’n with a more staid sound that psych-rock fans can get behind without completely abandoning the interest of their existing following. Smooth move, SWIMM. – Ashley Belanger
