Electro-popster Chad Valley stops by Will’s Pub tonight – and perhaps IHOP!
Saturday, April 6 – Chad Valley
with Ghost Beach, TideUp
1042 N. Mills Ave.
When a musician grows up on Bowie and Queen, his song-craft tendencies have no need to stray far from that native land. It’s essentially the same idea behind “you can’t take the country out of the girl,” only with a freak flag flying. That’s the case with Chad Valley, the pen-name/alter ego of Hugo Manuel, an electro-pop musician based in Britain whose dance pop skews dreamy in the skilled, sexy synth way of his recent collaborators Twin Shadow and El Perro Del Mar. Many might recognize his music from Warm Bodies, the zombie comedy released in February with a soundtrack stacked with those indie elite who can do no wrong, like Feist, M83 and the National. Side note: Hey, Manuel, we heard you like to hit up IHOP when you come to the states! From Will’s, head south on Mills, then west on State Road 50, and you’ll find your short stack on the right. – Ashley Belanger
