If your Facebook wasn’t swarmed with invites announcing the latest string of weekly hip-hop-themed nights announced by devoted Orlando scene-maker Swamburger (and friends!), you’ve got to get your ear closer to the ground. This array of regular events seeks to truly cultivate a consistent option for hip-hop enthusiasts through recurring Thursday-night offerings that promote the city’s best producers, DJs and rappers. On this particular Thursday, the theme is old school hip-hop and pits east versus west, utilizing both of Brink’s separate rooms to stage a combustible, nostalgic and two-pronged environment. Wuuuu-tang! Representing the east is DJ BMF spinning both the major anthems and the sleeper-plagued B-sides. Jockeying for the west, the other room will feature a tribute to the Pharcyde, celebrating the group’s 20-year anniversary with special performances by Shinobi Stalin and Alex Minor. Both will perform their music over Pharcyde instrumentals, in addition to an audio/video tour through the history of the Pharcyde. – Ashley Belanger
