Saturday, March 30: late-night Chinese pop-up in Winter Park!

March 29, 2013
By

Bruno Zacchini, proprietor of the much-beloved Bruno’s Big Bites (which saved many a drunk-n-hungry Redlight Redlight customer at the old Maguire Road location), is throwing a pop-up dinner tomorrow.

Lo-Pan’s Late Night will offer seatings at 9, 10:15 and 11:30 pm and dish out Zacchini’s “artistic interpretation” of Chinese cuisine: “This is my take on a Chinese restaurant with responsibly sourced ingredients.” Tickets will be sold at Fairbanks Food Market until 6 p.m. tonight (Friday, March 29).

Ingredients are being sourced from local lovelies My Yard Farm, Wild Ocean Seafood Market and Nines Mine Ranch. The menu (posted below) includes red shrimp in chili-scallion oil, beef cheek with turnip and puffed rice, pork belly with mustard greens, spicy snake beans, a super-ambitious Asian chicken heart dish, and a pineapple-five spice tart. (This might go without saying, but please note that Zacchini says on the event page that Lo-Pan’s is “not at all veg-friendly … sorry.” Maybe next time, but for now, enjoy all the local seafood, beef, pork, etc.) This is exciting stuff, and we hope to see more of it. Local chefs, send your pop-up info and invites to dining at orlandoweekly dot com!
