Big Wheel’s chef Tony Adams opens pop-up restaurant at Urban ReThink
Tuesday, March 19 – Kennebec
625 E. Central Blvd.
Most of the time, a pop-up restaurant is a chance for a chef with an established restaurant to experiment, stretch the boundaries a little. In the case of Kennebec, though, it’s more like a chance for one of our favorite local chefs to serve food on plates. Tony Adams, proprietor of the much-loved Big Wheel Food Truck, brings his nose-to-tail creations to an actual dining room for just five days with a temporary restaurant located in downtown’s Urban ReThink. Diners will see some of their Big Wheel favorites, like the octopus with chickpea ragoût and the braised chicken with lardons, but the menu will mostly feature elevated versions of Adams’ locavore specialties (expect to see a menu heavy on seafood and pork); Brent Hernandez of Redlight Redlight will collaborate with the BWP team for beer pairings. Saturday night’s finale dinner will feature a prix fixe menu rather than a la carte, with a single seating limited to 50 diners ($90 per person, $40 for wine pairing with the meal). – Jessica Bryce Young
