The Fugazi 13 Songs All Star Band tonight at Will’s Pub
Friday, Nov. 2 – The Fugazi 13 Songs All Star Band
1042 N. Mills Ave.
We miss Fugazi. We miss the all-ages, $5 shows and the no-bullshit, DIY aesthetic. It’s been 10 years – 10 years! – since the band performed its last show, and 23 years (yikes) since they released 13 Songs, an album that helped cement the band’s reputation as one of the most socially conscious and musically revolutionary American punk bands of their time. Also: They just fucking rocked, and we expect that tonight’s DIY performance, being organized at Will’s Pub by local musician, bartender and man about town Phil Longo, will do Fugazi’s memory justice. According to Longo, the Fugazi 13 Songs All-Star Band (featuring Mike Levin of the New Lows and Shyster, Patrick O’Neal, former drummer for Andy Matchett and the Minks, Longo and some “guests”) will play the 13 Songs album in its entirety, as well as a few other songs. In keeping with Fugazi tradition, it’s only $5 to get in, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Ralph Ameduri Scholarship Fund. – Erin Sullivan
