26th Annual Festival of Trees opens at OMA

November 9, 2012

Saturday, Nov. 10 – 26th Annual Festival of Trees
10 a.m.-5 p.m.
through Nov. 18
Orlando Museum of Art
2416 N. Mills Ave.

We don’t mean to sound like the Grinch, but come November, we’re hesitant to jump into the annual holiday pastime of frenzied shopping and gluttonous bingeing. That’s why we’re thankful for OMA’s annual Festival of Trees, where the museum’s volunteer board, Council of 101, eases us into the season with an extravagant showcase of more than 50 decked-out (by local businesses) holiday trees for sale, all of which are exquisitely adorned within this year’s “Once Upon a Time … A Fairy Tale Festival” theme. This nine-day Orlando holiday staple not only attracts the young ones with the Reindeer Romp: Peter Pan’s Pajama Party (Nov. 14), but it also appeals to the grown-ups with food, wine and music at the Holiday Stroll (Nov. 16). And because there’s no chance you’ll find us anywhere near a shopping mall (did someone say, this fest takes care of all the gift-getting with its Holiday Boutique and Gingerbread Village. Soldier on, fellow holiday survivalists. – Aimee Vitek
