Magic Mike — Warner Bros. has elected to push Steven Soderbergh’s male-stripper saga with the tag line “You’ll wish you were single.†Right — now remind me again how it’s the homos who are undermining the institution of marriage? Anyway, star Channing Tatum was once an ecdysiast himself, but what’s really raised expectation for his performance are the surprising acting chops he showed in 21 Jump Street. As for costar Matthew McConaughey … well, did you know Matthew McConaughey is in this movie, too? (R)

People Like UsReviewed this issue. (PG-13)

Ted –I’ve already seen Seth MacFarlane’s talking-teddy comedy, and I’d love to tell you exactly what I thought of it. But you’ll have to wait until tomorrow, since Universal decided they really didn’t want another day’s worth of positive P.R. (hint hint hint!), even with Spider-Man threatening to dominate the conversation in less than a week. Running a studio sounds like such an easy job: Figure out what makes the most sense for you to do from a marketing standpoint, then do the totally other thing. (R)

Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection — Meanwhile, no advance screenings of any kind were held for Perry’s latest didactic family comedy. Because even a broken clock that snorts coke off its secretary’s ass in board meetings is right twice a day. (PG-13)
