Film series can be a tough sell these days, when one assumes every film is available on Netflix, streamed right to your TV or delivered to your mailbox. An even tougher sell is the hour-long drive to Daytona Beach for a museum visit, and for us to recommend an event there in the middle of a weekday? You know it has to be special. The Southeast Museum of Photography’s exhibits are impeccable and prestigious; their wide-ranging offering of movie programming is less well-known, but mind-bogglingly comprehensive; there’s something worth watching almost every day in several thoughtfully curated series. Jacques Rivette’s debut film, Paris Nous Appartient, appears as part of their 13-film French New Wave series, already in progress. We chose this one to highlight because – guess what? – it’s not on Netflix; if you want to see it, you’ll have to make the drive. Visit the website and peruse the stellar lineup, then start planning your sick days now. – Jessica Bryce Young
