Win free tix to Maker Faire at Skycraft Parts and Surplus this Saturday

August 29, 2014

Concerts battle silence, the visual arts challenge the norm, but for tech-heads, tinkerers and craftsmen, the upcoming Maker Faire Orlando combats the laze that summer has laid upon us, just when fall makes garage projects bearable again. The event spans a weekend – Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14 – and will feature more than 200 exhibitors at Orlando Science Center. Here are photos from last year’s event, before Orlando became an official Make event, and it was the junior-sized Mini Maker Faire:

Now that it’s all official, Maker Faire locals are pulling out all the stops (seriously, they can never stop pulling things apart). If you’re planning to attend, discounted advance tickets are available now for $15 a day for adults and $13 a day for kids, or $29 for both days for adults and $23 for both days for kids. BUT! If you’re super-savvy, you can plan to stop by Skycraft Parts & Surplus on Saturday, Aug. 30 between 3 – 5 p.m., where organizers will be giving out five pairs of tickets. Just look for the 12-foot-tall inflatable robot – you can’t miss them.

Educators, Maker Faire will also launch a new initiative on Sept. 13 (the first day of Maker Faire) to help teachers inspire students to become makers, offering workshops, an esteemed maker panel and a teachers lounge.

Don’t blank out on all the innovative opportunity.
