Let me tell you guys about Ernie. He’s three years old and had been watching other dogs walk out of the Orange County Animal Shelter with new families for a few weeks. According to OCAS’s Facebook page, Ernie was running short on time. Earlier today, they posted this message to Facebook in an 11th-hour effort:

Facebook fans Ernie (A284577) needs your help!
This smart boy has had no luck finding a home and he is very short on time. We cannot believe this sweetheart has not been adopted. He loves to play fetch, get belly rubs and he knows how to give paw. If you have room in your heart and your home, don’t hesitate to adopt Ernie today!

They included this adorable pic:

Within two hours, Ernie was adopted. Ernie’s new owner, Orlando resident Nancy Brown, was alerted to Ernie’s dire situation by her daughter, who saw OCAS’s Facebook post. Nancy and Ernie met, bonded and the adoption paper work was signed within the hour. If ever you wondered why we always post those (totally adorable) galleries of pets up for adoption at OCAS, this is why.

Here are some of the dogs currently up for adoption at OCAS:
15 lovable pups just waiting for you to take them home
25 cuddly dogs waiting for you to adopt them
