Teen suspended for starring in porn will be allowed back at school

Even though the economy is slowly improving, it’s still difficult to get by for many families to get by. Robert Marucci of Cocoa, whose mother struggled to find work, chose to take an unconventional path to support his family: online porn. The 18-year-old starred in multiple adult films, which he says he treated no differently than a traditional after-school job. Once his classmates discovered the video clips online, Marucci became the target of bullying.

When administrators at Cocoa High School got wind of Marucci’s non-traditional after-school job, they suspended him from school for 10 days, calling his actions a “major disruption.” Administrators also stated that Marucci threatened to bring a gun and explosives to school, which he denies.

A suspension typically wouldn’t be that big of deal, but Brevard County Public Schools has a policy that states:

“A student who is absent more than nine (9) days within a semester or more than four (4) days within a 9-week period for schools on a block schedule will not receive a passing grade for the semester.”

Since it’s his senior year and Brevard County treats out-of-school suspension as an absence, this policy would have made it impossible for Marucci to graduate in May. Luckily, district officials in Brevard County stated today that Marucci will be allowed to go back to school. He returns Wednesday.

As for Marucci’s mom, she says she’s proud of her son. “I think he’s the most awesome person in the world,” she said, in an interview with WKMG. “He stood up and he was the man of the house when I couldn’t be.”
