Ralph Ameduri’s murderer sentenced to life
On Jan. 30, Samuel Sweet Jr. was convicted of the murder of Orlando musician Ralph Ameduri Jr. Today, the Lakeland Ledger reports, Sweet was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, which took place outside Jessie’s Lounge, a Winter Haven bar where Ameduri was filling in as bass player in local band Thomas Wynn and the Believers. Sweet was a minor – just 17 years old – when when he shot Ameduri in a robbery attempt turned deadly. He is 19 years old today. Though he received a life sentence, he is eligible for parole in 25 years. He’ll be 44 years old.
He was also sentenced today for five other charges related to the murder – he’ll serve 20 years for attempted armed robbery and five years for tampering with evidence. But those sentences will be served concurrently with his life sentence. We’ll report more details when we have them.
