Maria Bamford replies to Orlando comics

June 4, 2014
By

Earlier this week, a group of Orlando comics sent out a plea to comedian Maria Bamford, asking her to headline the upcoming Orlando Indie Comedy Festival in late September. Though Bamford appeared flattered, responding via Twitter that she would check her availability for Sept. 25-28, it appears that she’ll be out of the country during those dates and will not be able to headline the festival.

Still, Bamford was gracious enough to record a response to the Orlando comics, explaining her unavailability, congratulating the comedians on making their own festival and encouraging them to keep making videos. She also introduces her pug, Bert, who doesn’t seem to care much about the festival one way or the other.

Watch the response video below and keep an eye out for upcoming news on the lineup for the Orlando Indie Comedy Festival.

If news of the Orlando Indie Comedy Fest has put you in the mood to check out some of our local comedians, this is the week to do it. Two showcases take place in the Milk District: Spacebar Comedy at 10 p.m. tonight and Shit Sandwich at the Bull and Bush at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, both for free. There’s also a New York (by way of Winter Haven) comedian, Greg Barris, doing a free show at Lil Indies on Saturday at 8 p.m., also for free.
